English Contest Week – May 20-24


Activities:  Practice for Readers Theater (the whole class will participate) 


A.  Language Arts:     


PROJECT-BASED LEARNING UNIT ON ANIMAL HABITATS AND ADAPTATION

Our students have started to set up their animals in their respective habitats in the 5Yellow classroom.  Everyone is excited about this project.  Taking care of real -live animals would give our students the chance to learn about the animals that they're taking care of, learn responsibility and teamwork, among many other things.

 The lessons are going to be especially designed for this unit.  The reading book, My Sidewalk, will only be used as a supplementary reading book.  
 
MATERIALS AND LESSONS:


1.  READINGS – Readings pertaining to the animals the class is learning will be provided on handouts to the students. 


Students must keep all the reading handouts of the unit as they are included in the final exam on June 14.

The following are the reading handouts that students should study for the finals:

2.         VOCABULARY – A separate sheet of vocabulary will be given to the students. (The vocabulary on the Practice Book will not be used in this unit.)

Students are strongly advised to do their activity homework on Spelling City to review and practice vocabulary words in the unit.

We are presently knee-deep in our work on a project where the students are applying two art techniques – relief sculpture and printmaking arts.
